life story series| the story of braveheart

Friday, January 25th, 2013

the life story series continues!!!! If you don’t know what life story series is you can read about it here. If you clicked on the link you were brought to a past life story about our cat, Max. Well i figure i should give props to our new kitty, Braveheart (i did not pick the name).

i don’t know how i ended up with 2 cats.. i don’t even like cats. Somehow i got suckered into it. So Max our sweet annoying cat is super naughty. I’m not even sure he’s 100% cat there must be a bit of dog in him. He likes to chew. His favorite flavor is charger cords from our phones, Dsi’s, cameras. he also chews wood, books, flipflops, foam anything like swords and balls oh and rugs too. We thought maybe he was bored so we went to the Human Society and adopted a friend to keep him busy.

After looking at the website we feel in love with a little kitty that looked just like max. After getting there and looking at all the kitties we saw little braveheart. He was so small and so cute and had a little freckle on his nose. We knew he was ours!!

So this is the story of Braveheart. My little shadow.. who follows me around all day. If he’s not passed out somewhere then he is sitting at my feet or chasing after me.

Shortly after he came home i spent the day following him around trying to get a picture of him.. he was full of energy and fast and well it was a challenge to say the least. So most of these are from the first few days with us and then a few recent ones at the end..

wow that was a lot of cat pictures.. lol sorry about that.

now please continue on to the next life story…keeping my fingers crossed that it’s not about cats ha!! So click her and she the work of Chattanooga photographer, Beth Lofgren.

life story series | daily life

Friday, September 28th, 2012

well we made it!!! the 12th month of the life story series!!!! i can’t believe i made it the whole year without missing a month!! if you don’t know what the life story series is…well…where have you been?!?!? kidding.. ok you can read about it here.

i wasn’t sure what i would do this month. every life story over the past year i always had some sort of theme..something we would do….that i would try to capture. Some of the other photographers who are participating in this project were saying they didn’t know what to do this month.. i was one of them.. someone simply said “daily life?” i knew that’s what i had to do.. after all isn’t this what life stories are all about.. the mundane daily life and trying to capture it in a way that we will cherish later.. capturing our loved ones as they are..in real life just being them.

so for the last 4 days i’ve done just that.. captured a few moments of the mundane. no special trips to the park or anything particularly fun. just us having an average week… i sort of wish i started a few days earlier and got a whole week. but it is what it is.. capturing insignificant little moments….

moments like waiting for the school bus

hiding in the “fort”

moments like snuggling with max after school

playdates with BFF’s..where little brother gets to join in the fun

digging for dinosaurs

and hockey practice

reading to a friend

bedtime snacks

and 2 naughty cats playing with a new.. very large toy

life story series | cottage life

Friday, August 31st, 2012

i can’t believe this is the 11th month of the life story series. incase you don’t know what that is all about well i’m participating in a monthly project with a few amazing photographers.. it’s a big blog circle and at the end of my post you can click the link to the next photographer in the circle. each month we share images of our own family…just being them. we take the time to capture moments big or small that we might not of normally pulled the camera out to capture.

This month i am sharing our annual trip to my parents cottage. we always have a fun time when we are up there.. there is so much to see and do and there is also a lot of relaxing and down time.

Though i did pull out my big camera here and there most of my images were shot with my new lumix.. it is so nice to have a smaller more portable camera other then my cell phone!! There are a lot of pictures… consider yourself warned! and make sure you click on the link at the end of the post to see the beautiful work of the amazingly talented Taryn Chrapkowski.

now it’s time to continue on the circle… so please click this link and head over to see the beautiful work of my friend Taryn over at Taryn Lisa Photography.

Life Story Series | the story of being patient

Friday, June 29th, 2012

need a reminder as to what the life story series is… click here

i’ve had a frame on my mantel over my fireplace for almost 2 years now.. it’s been empty up until a couple months ago.  i really wanted a image of my three kids snuggled up.  is that too much to ask? Yes i guess it is cause it took me almost 2 years to get lol.  my kids are pretty much over me taking their picture.. they’ve endured a lot.  and my middle son especially gives me such a hard time.. just look at the camera buddy and smile.. really just one second of a smile is all i need.. nope not happening

Sure they are not all looking and smiling perfect at me. but i love it. i love that he decided to be a tease and give her a kiss.. without me asking him too.  i love that i was able to capture a real moment. that i kept my annoyance inside and just let him be a goof and waited and waited for the right moment.

now click on the link to see the wonderful work of Laura Morita Yeun.  she is super talented and i always look forward to her blog posts!!!

life story series | the story of batman and robin

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Here we are month 7 of the life story series!! if you’ve missed past months you can just scroll down and check the past few months out.. basically me and some amazing photographer friends from around the globe all put up a blog post at the same time and link each other.. we have all decided to take more pictures of our daily lives.. our kids being kids or whatever we feel like shooting that month. at the end of this blog post you will see a link to the next blog.. grab a coffee and click through and enjoy the work of these awesome photogs!!

This month i was really stuck deciding what to photograph.. and here i was a few days ago and had nothing…. then my son asked me if i would get his batman costume down.. and of course his younger brother needed to be robin. So they got dressed up and ran off to play. later i went downstairs and found them playing batman and robin on the wii and dressed up in their costumes.. they looked so funny lounging around in the playroom playing the video game all dressed up. i decided i would let them wear the costumes as long as they wanted (even to bed) and i would follow them around and take pictures!

so that brings us to……

Life Story series: Backyard Rink

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Here we are month 4 of the life story series!! if you’ve missed past months you can just scroll down and check the past few months out.. basically me and some amazing photographer friends from around the globe all put up a blog post at the same time and link each other.. we have all decided to take more pictures of our daily lives.. our kids being kids or whatever we feel like shooting that month. at the end of this blog post you will see a link to the next blog.. grab a coffee and click through and enjoy the work of these awesome photogs!!

This month my story is about our backyard rink.. this is our first year building one and we chose a terrible year to do it. it’s been soo warm. it’s been more of a pond then a rink. but the two days where it was actually frozen it got a lot of use.

my daughter was goalie for her hockey team this particular weekend so she was able to get some practice in net before the game!

my middle son was cheering not because he scored (though he did) but because he caused his dad to fall in the process.. yup that’s him laid out on the ice in the background lol

My baby!!!!

He shoots…he scores..

playing hockey is hard work!! especially when you are 4.

warming up and asking for hot chocolate!!

perfect end to an afternoon in the cold.. hot chocolate and cinnamon toast!!!
